Heart reflections on “A” attitude prompts with psalms
Updated: 5 hours ago
The ABCs journal in conjunction with singing the psalms to record your own heart reflections
************
Do you want a better relationship with your child?
God can build a bridge.
So why do many skip over God?
Well, it’s true that you can’t love God whom you can’t see if you refuse to love your brother who you can see. But we take it too far when we only strive to love those we can see and ignore God as if he didn’t make us for himself, as if he didn’t exist. He gave us his word in the psalms to sing back to him so that won’t happen.
Before you answer, “Do you want a better relationship with your child?” ask yourself, “Do you want a better relationship with your God?” Even if the answer is no to one or both right now, it doesn’t have to stay that way. Seek God and his kingdom first and all these things will be given to you as well.
To make this foundational for you, I will post on the attitude prompts in the journal. I’m starting with the letter A here, and each week with the next letter through Z.
For each letter, there will be suggested psalms to sing and links to articles on singing the psalms. You can find music and words to each psalm on https://psalms.seedbed.com/psalms-index/. If you have a physical psalter and would like to access tunes, you can use https://psalter.org/.
Note: these posts contain my heart reflections on the prompts for each letter that struck a chord with me during a moment in time. On separate occasions, I sat for a few minutes, focusing on a letter of the alphabet each day with our then 16-year-old child: https://www.abcsconnection.com/post/heart-connections-blossom-from-heart-reflections-a-work-in-progress-1
Your experience with the ABCs Journal will vary based on which attitude prompts resonate with you that day and which psalms you sing.
These attitudes bathed in the psalms will flow into all your activities. You’ll notice a shift from focusing only on God’s gifts (your child, for instance) to a deep affection for God himself, the giver of those gifts!
At the risk of over-repetition, some form of this introduction will be included with each weekly post to serve as a reminder for you.
-A-
Affection for your child and the ability to love and forgive yourself both stem from developing an affection for God and knowing that he loves you and forgives you.

and let us run …
looking to Jesus …” ~ Hebrews 12:1–2
